Homebound Instruction
Franklin Regional School District may temporarily excuse a student from compulsory attendance on account of illness or other urgent reasons and provide that student homebound instruction while he or she is excused from school. Regulations require that the term “urgent reasons” be strictly construed to not permit irregular attendance at school.
If a student is to be absent for an extended period of time due to illness or other urgent reasons, a student may be eligible to receive homebound instruction. Homebound instructors are provided for a maximum of five hours of instruction per week for any student who will be absent from school for an extended period of time, defined as a minimum of two weeks absence or ten school days. Students who are receiving homebound instruction are considered present for attendance purposes.
To apply for homebound instruction, the attending physician and parent/guardian must complete the “Homebound Instruction Application.” This application is available through the link on this page or through any of the school counseling offices.
For more information regarding homebound instruction, please contact a school counselor or principal. They will then connect you with the district Homebound Coordinator, Mr. Heath Curran ([email protected]).
